Cabo San Lucas
Cabo San Lucas, with its large marina and beautiful bay where the Sea of Cortez meets the Pacific Ocean, is famous for its casual atmosphere and
exciting nightlife. Long a favorite for anglers out to land the big one, Cabo San Lucas also has great beaches, lots of shopping and restaurants, and
a variety of hotels and resorts for any budget. CS Lucas is also known for its famous stone arch, called El Arco, a magnificent natural rock
formation at Land’s End. Cabo San Lucas' long sandy main beach, El Medano, is the place for swimming and watersports (see Tours), with lots of
fun restaurants in the sand, golf and postcard perfect views. A popular port of call for cruise ships along the Mexican Riviera, CS Lucas is also a
popular destination for Spring Break and a hideaway for the rich and famous.

San Jose del Cabo
Twenty miles northeast, San Jose del Cabo is Cabo San Lucas' sister city, a charming and romantic colonial town with the flavor of Old Mexico.
Founded as a mission in 1730, San Jose is a mile inland from the hotel zone along San Jose Bay. In the small historic downtown, courtyard
restaurants, boutiques and art galleries surround the main square and twin spire church. Gourmet dining, sophisticated wine bars, and live Latin
entertainment heat up the night. A family-oriented traditional town, San Jose is the quiet side of Cabos. With the area’s best surf beaches, a palm
filled estuary ideal for bird watching, a sea turtle nursery and the La Laguna mountains to explore, San Jose is an ideal destination for nature and
adventure lovers.

Driving in Baja:
No special permits or bonds are needed, unless you plan to continue on to Mexico's mainland.   Be sure to get Mexican insurance before crossing
the border, as your U.S. insurance is not valid in Mexico. Do not drive in Mexico without insurance!  Keep your gas tank as close to full as
possible, even if it means extra stops.  You never know when the next gas station will be closed or out of gas.   It is a good idea to carry a gas can,
with gas in it.  The roads are constantly patrolled by the Green Angels (daytime hours only) who will help with gas and very minor repairs. These
angels of mercy will pass by eventually, although you will probably be helped before they arrive by others passing by. The roads are generally safe,
but narrow by U.S. standards, be extra careful.

Public Phone Charges:
Beware !!!!, of the phones plastered all over town, usually on the front of businesses.  The are marked "TO CALL LONG DISTANCE TO THE
USA & CANADA, SIMPLY DIAL 0"   The writing is in black and USA is in blue letters with CANADA in red letters.  They also have pictures of
credit cards on the signs.  The phones are put there by a private phone company and are VERY, VERY EXPENSIVE.  You will probably faint
when you see your phone bill or credit card bill.   It is best to use the public phone booths (usually blue or silver) and use the number in the
banner just below.  Click on the banner (or this link) for details, you can also print phone cards to carry with you.

Golf
Cabo San Lucas has rapidly become the golf capital of Mexico.  With six championship courses (there are more in the planning stage) all within
easy driving distance of each other, the area offers some of the most beautiful golf courses in the world.  Come enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of
Baja and try each course while you are here.  All have ocean views and three of the courses, Cabo del Sol, Cabo Real and El Dorado, boast
spectacular ocean side holes that rival any in the world for their beauty and challenging nature.  The Raven at Cabo San Lucas looks out over
Land's End and Cabo's beautiful bay
